Mr L. Williams (Wellington) is one of the guests at the I'nited Service. Hotel. Messrs E. VY. Mills (Auckland) and' i F. Haigh (Dunedin) are staving at Warner's Hotel. Visitors to the Clarendon Hotel include Messrs 11. Ziesler (Wanganui) and X. Rutherford (Parnassus). Mr T. W. Arthur, who has been ap | pointed field secretary, representing the New Zealand Council of the Y.M.C.A.,1 will go into camp at Awapuni at the i end of this week. He expects to leave the Dominion with a later reinforcement draft. Mr 0. <;. 0. Kallmann, who has been. in the service of the Dunedin branch of the I'ost and Telegraph Department for about ISO years, left to-day for Christchurch, in order to take up the appointment of second money order clerk in the local office. Mr Kallmann was well known in musical circles in Dunedin. having been a member of the Dunedin Orchestral Society for '27 years. During the morning service on Sun day at St. Mary's Church. Addington, a tablet, to the memory of the late Mr j Augustus Schwartz, who passed away lin February, was unveiled. For 40 years the late Mr Schwartz was a pro minent worker in the parish, while for i'."i years lie acted as churchwarden. , There were about 50 members of the Washington Lodge. 1.0.0. F., of which' IMr Schwartz was the founder, present ! 1 at the ceremony.. The death occurred on Saturday at I iTiniaru of Mr .1. R. Scott, at the age of j !(is years. The deceased gentleman was well known and esteemed in commer jcial circles. He came to New Zealand from Scotland many years ago. and fori a time served on a station at Taieri., [Later he became prominently connect-; led with the dairy export trade in the 'South Island. lie held the position of ! secretary to the South Island Dairy As- : Isociation, until failing health necessi-] jtated his retirement some months ago. j lie has two sons on active service.
