Tart of the Stefannson expedition I has returned to Nome, Alaska. The j I parly includes Mr Diamond J.enness, '■ the New Zealand geologist. The schooner Alaska left Bernard i Harbour on July 13, and reached Herschel Island on July 28. During 1915 a detailed survey of the coastline was completed. The river was explored for a distance of 75 miles, and geological examinations and surveys were made east from Cape Barrow around the Arctic Sound. The explorers travelled by launch I and canoe, returning by sledge. The j result is that the Bathurst Island j charts have been reclined, and over I 150 islands have been charted. | The geological results are encour-1 ! aging. A great copperfield was map- j ! ped out. | Mr Jenness spent from April to November, • 1915, in sledging and ' packing, with primitive Eskimos, in I the interior of Victoria Island. He made an extensive ethnological and archaeological collection, and took '' phonograph records of Eskimo folk--1 lore. Colds fly before "NAZOL."
