A MOOT QUESTION.
SOLDIERS’ DEATHS. A REGISTRATION PUZZLE. [From our own PorliamenUrr Reporter.] WELLINGTON, July 2L A rather novel point was raised by Mr J. C. Thomson in the House of Representatives to-day, in respect to the registration of the deaths of soldiers. A question, he said, had arisen as to the procedure in registering the deaths of those who fall at the front or who die while with the troops outside New Zealand. He enquired of the Minister of Defence if there was any legislation that allowed parents or guardians registering such deaths in the towns where the soldiers bad lived. The Hon. Jas. Allen said the question was a legal one that he was not in a position to answer. Perhaps the I Attorney-General could answer Ihc question. The Attorney-General, it appeared, could not give an answer on band, and Mr Allen invited Mr Thomson to put the question on the order paper.
