A SERIOUS SITUATION. ! MR REDMOND'S WARNING. UNCERTAINTY AND IRRITATION.! By Cabl.\ — Press Associafisn.— Copyright. j AvslraVan and X.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, July 20. Mr J. E. Redmond, on Tuesday,' sent the following memorandum to! Mr Asquith and Mr Lloyd George:—, "I feel bound to tell you that the long l delay in making public the text of | the Irish Bill, and the uncertainty' and irritation caused by Lord Lans-j downe's speech, have created a most serious situation in.lreland. "In my opinion, any further delay \ will make a settlement on the lines! laid down by Mr Lloyd George quite I impossible. When ils terms were' originally submitted to us, we were strongly urged to use all possible] dispatch in consulting our support-; ers in Ireland, and were told that! great Imperial interests were at! stake. Three weeks have elapsed'; and no progress has been made. "For some mysterious reason, this i matter, which was so urgent live] weeks ago, hangs tire. I therefore; urge upon the Government that further delay will be fatal, and record! my conviction that any proposal to ! depart from the terms agreed upon, 1 especially in respect lo the strictly j temporary and provisional character of all sections of the Bill, will compel us to declare thai the agreement,' on the faith of which we obtained: the assent of our supporters in Ire-! land, has been departed from, and 1 is a I an end."
