On receipt, of the Now Zealand Government's cable slating thai rei>airs lo Hie Aurora would occupy at east CO days owing lo labour scarcity, Ihc British Government decided, owing to an urgent cable from Sir I*]. Shackleton, lo dispatch a vessel from England, though the journey from Plymouth to Elephant island is twice the distance from Wellington. The Hudson's Bay Company, owners of the whaler Discovery, which was used in the 1910 expedition, thereupon lent that vessel for the relief journey. She will sail in a few days, and will be lowed most of the journey in order to save time. It is considered that the effort Sir E. Shackleton is now making has little chance of success.
