Sir Douglas Haig has regained a little ground at Belvillc Wood and Longueval, and the struggle continues. The British also pushed forward the line north of Longueval and Bazcntin. Our bombing parties made a substantial advance at night east of the Leipsic Redoubt. Elsewhere the main battle consists chiefly of artillery fire, and there are no alterations of positions. We carried out yesterday evening, south of Armentieres, some important raids on a front of two miles, in which the Australians took part. CRIME WAVE IN GERMANY. DAILY BUDGET OF MURDER AND SUICIDE. A Hague correspondent states that a ghastly crime and suicide wave is sweeping over Germany, due to mental depression caused by lack of proper food and the losses in the war. There has been a sensational suicide or murder in Berlin every other day for the past two weeks. Two girls killed another in a manicure parlour. They beheaded their victim with a razor, packed the body in a trunk, and sent it to another city. There are many similar gruesome crimes. Practically nothing is published in Germany about the suicides, in order to avoid depression and the psychological effect of the crime wave. REPORTED ZEPPELIN CASUALTY. DOWNED BY RUSSIAN GUNS.
