A CHARGE OF MURDER.

DEVOIN COMMITTED FOE TBIAL. Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 19. At the Magistrate's Court, Ernest Devoin was committed for trial on a charge of murder, a sequel to the death of Louisa White, who died as the result of a wound from a revolver allegedly fired by Devoin on the night of March 27 in the Nairn Street Reserve. Devoin and Miss White were to have been married in a few days. They went for a walk in the reserve, and while they were there shots were heard, and the woman was found badly wounded in the spine. Devoin also was injured in the temple, having attempted suicide. Devoin previously was charged with attempted murder, but the woman was so critically ill then that the trial was adjourned in view of the possibility of a more serious charge.

The evidence disclosed that Devoin already had a wife living.
