LYTTELTON. A sitting of the' Lyttelton Magistrate's Court was held this morning, before Mr C. Ferrier, J.P. John Limblade, on a charge of drunkenness, was convicted and discharged. He was further charged with having asssaulted Sergeant Jackson whilst in the execution of his duty. He was fined 40/- or, in default, 14 days' imprisonment, the Bench remarking that it would probably act as a warning to others. The police must be protected. John Morrison, who pleaded guilty to having deserted from the steamship Indralema, was convicted and ordered to pay 7/- costs.
