SHIPPING NOTES.

Captain W. Robertson, late master of the ill-fated schooner Strathcona, is now in command of the barque Mananui, at prosent on her way from Noumea to Auckland. Captain Robertson is well known locally having had command of the barque Kinclure, which was owned for many years by Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co., of Christchurch, and made a smart passage of 81 days from New York to Auckland about 12, years ago. Later he had command of the barquentine Lark, which was lost on the West Coast of the North Island. The coastal steamer Putiki left Wellington for Auckland on Saturday, where she will undergo extensive alterations. The cabin aft is to be moved further forward to give more cargo space in the after hold. The bridge will also be moved forward, and other alterations made. The Sydney-owned barque Rothesay Ray (ex Activ) left Newcastle on Friday, April 28, with a cargo of 1109 tons of coal for Iqulque (Chili). After completion of discharge the vessel will load nitrate for an Australian port. The Rothesay Bay is well known in Lyttelton, having visited this port on three occasions during the last ISO years, the last occasion having been on September 16, 1914. The Huddart-Parkcr steamer Wimmera arrived at Wellington on Saturday from Melbourne. The vessel has transhipments on board ex steamers L'maira, Kashgar, Morea, Saint Jean, and Baltic, the following being the principal lines for Lyttelton: —4O kegs cream of tartar, 42 cases tobacco, 702 chests tea, 200 bales wire, II! cases cocoanut oil, 109 cases empty bottles, 100 boxes iexias, 047 cases sultanas, 5 casks cocoa, 10 cases soap, 105 bags maize sugar, 4 bales hair, 50 cases stationery, 100 bags rape seed, 54 packages cycle parts, 100 cases sulphuric acid, 70 bales rubber goods, 50 cases currants, 17 cases bluestone, 02 cases roofing iron, 1418 sacks phosphates, 21 cases muriatic acid, 3 bags peanuts, 450 sacks barley, 5 bales'rattan, 10 cases preserves, 22 boxes electric lamps, 20 coils coir yarn, 79 packages dessicatcd cocoamit, 50 drums carbide, 8 cases dry cells, 50 cases beer, 9 cases autos, 1089 kegs nails, 200 cases separators, IX bales W.P. bundles, 10 cases brandy, and a large quantity of sundries. The vessel arrives here to-morrow, and sails in the evening for Melbourne, via Punedin and Bluff.
