Butchers were concealing meat and refusing to sell it. Officials made a search, which revealed large quantities, and these were forthwith sold publicly. The shops were then closed, but crowds endeavoured to wreck the premises. The greatest disturbances occurred at Wilmersdorf (a village three miles out of Berlin). The military were called out, and traffic Avas suspended for some hours.
