"THE WAY TO CALAIS."
The sombreimpressiveness of this cartoon b}' the famous Dutch artist, Louis Raemaehers, showing the dead strewing the flooded fields in the region of the Yser, is the most bitter comment on the tragic futility of the Kaiser's exhortation: "Calais at all costs." It is in these same Flemish lowlands that the German hordes are again reported to be massing.
