Dr Wi Ropa arrived from the north to-day. Captains Farthing and Chapman arrived from the north this morning. Chaplain-Captain Blamires of WaDganui, has returned to the front. The Hon. .1. Allen (Minister of Do fence i arrived by the Maori this morning. Major Sandle and Colonel Cooper were among this morning's arrivals from the north. Commissioner llodder, of the Salvation Arniv, arrived from Wellington yesterday! . Major .1. P. K. Veale, who has been on a holiday visit to Auckland, arrived from the north by the Maori to-day. Mr W. Brown (Lyttelton) is leaving to-night for Auckland to attend the annual meeting of the Masonic Grand Lodge. Stych, vicar of Collingwood, has been appointed to succeed the Rev. D. Rankin as curate at St. Mary's Church, Merivale. Mr Stych will commence his new duties on May £l. Clarkson, of the Sydenham Police Station, who left with the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary force in the New Zealand Field Artillery, and was at the landing at Gallipoli, where he remained five months, has been discharged on six months' pension as from the 2ord hist. Sergt. Clarkson leaves this week on a visit to relatives in Australia. Captain Neil Guthrie, N.Z.M.C., who was awarded the Military Cross in connection with the Gallipoli operations, has resumed duty. Captain Guthrie was wounded four times, and was invalided to England, after an attack of typhoid fever. On his convalescence he was appointed on the Home Service Medical Staff, and has now evidently fully recovered, as he has been transferred once more to the fighting line. la the Druids'' Hall, Templeton, on Thursday evening, a large number of residents assembled to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs George Bailey, who arc leaving the district to reside in Rtccarton. Mr G. P. Kissel, on behalf of the residents, presented Mr Bailey with a gold albert and pendant, and Mrs Bailey with a gold crescent brooch, set in pearls. Iu making the presentation, the chairman referred in warm terms of praise to the esteem in which the guests were held by all who knew tliein, and the loss which the district would suffer by their departure. Mr G. Witty, M.P., also made many eulogistic references to the esteem in which the guests of the evening were held. Mr George Bailey was a son of a worthy father, Mr Samuel Bailey, who had done a great deal for the Templeton district, and the guest of the evening had followed iu his footsteps, and hail succeeded to many of the positions which his father had previously occupied. Mr D. Sinclair also spoke. Mr Bailey suitably responded, and the evening concluded with a dance.
