LATE PERSONALS.
The pupils and staff of the Ashburtori High School assembled yesterday to bid good-byo to Miss F. E. Kershaw, M.A, who is severing h*r conueetion with the school, having been teaching thero for over 10 years. Mr W. F. Watters, 8.A., (headmaster) in referring to the work of Miss Kershaw, said that sh« had been one of the principal factors in raising the prestige of the school to its present high standard. Mr Watters presented Miss Kershaw with s beautiful writing desk. Miss Kershaw said that she had worked under the most pleasant conditions. She thanked on« and all for the beautiful present thev had given her. Miss Ker* shaw has been appointed head mistress of the Wellington Girls' College, a position she takes up next term. Besides her school work Miss Kershaw has been closely connected with the Baptist Church and several local societies. The usual meeting of the Ashburtoa, Technical School Board of Governors was held yesterday. It was decided to leave the appointment of an English and arithmetic master to the chairman. and director. The report of the train, ing of probationers committee recommended that the salaries of probationers be increased to £35, £45, and £SO for first, second, and third years re» speetivcly. The Education Board wrote granting the services of thei* architect with regard to additions to tb.o school.
