COMMERCIAL.

THE SHARE MARKET. The various stock exchanges throughout the Dominion report only a nominal amount of-business during the past week and generally speaking there is very lfttlc variation in prices as compared with last week. The following is the latest information regarding the undermentioned stocks: — Banks. —New Zealand: Sales of the old issue are reported at £lO 0/- and of the new issue at £IC 10/-, with buyers offering £lO 5/- for the former but no seller under £lO-8/-. Union: A sale is reported at £sl. National: A parcel changed hands at £5 2/-. Gas.—There have been no quotations or sales reported during the past week so prices remain as before. Insurance. —A parcel of South British found a buyer at £1 15/-. Nationals: Sellers were offering at £2 0/6 with no business reported. Shipping.—Sales of Union Steams arc reported at £1 5/3 and New Zealand Shipping Company at £l7 10/-. Huddart Parker (« per cent, preference) changed hands at £1 2/-. Coal. —There is no business recorded under this heading. Meat. —There have been no quotations for meats during the past week. Evidently buyers are holding off. Woollens. —Here again there have been no quotations during the week. Mining.—A dividend of 1/- per share on Walhi Grand Junctions and also on Waihis was paid during the past week. Sales of the latter stock are reported at 36/3, these being the only shares of this class of stock under this heading. Miscellaneous.—New Zealand Drugs changed hands at £2 <l/C. A sale of Whitcombe and Tombs was reported at £5 IG/6. Several parcels of Dominion Rubbers changed hands at £1 2/3.

WOOL AND TALLOW. The following nrc copies of cables received by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., from their London office, dated December 2, 1915 : Wool Sales. —The gross arrivals for the eighth series, which open on the 7th inst., total 122,116 bales, of which 40,000 bales were forwarded direct to manufacturers, leaving, with the old stock of 22,000 bales, the quantity available for the sale as 104,110 bales. The dates of our own sales arc December 9, 14, and 33. Tallow.—At the weekly auction prices were on the average 1/- per cwt. higher,, edible tallow being neglected.
