The "Berliner Tageblatt," in an ]'~ interesting survey of the position of, I German limited companies, reveals 1 ! i that many factories turning out ma- ' chinery have not paid , dividends. Three electricity and gas companies, have paid reduced dividends. Shipping companies and hotels have / made riq profits, the cement and'alkali factories are losing heavily, and the textile industry is hard hit. ■• ;;.,.,'■ LONDON, December 2.. The New York correspondent of "The Times" says that bankers attribute the depreciation of the German mark to an excess of German. *' imports. The correspondent also reportsthat Germany is preparing to float at < new War Loan of £500,000,000. It is- ■ pointed out that Germany is now working practically on a paper basis.
