HALSWELL. At the adjourned annual meeting of the council, Mr H. Eaglesoine was appointed chairman. The ordinary meeting was then" held, all the. members being present. | The Hospital Board appointment of a new member in the plaee of Mr Scott, resigned.—The chairman was requested to represent the, council in the matter. The Commissioner of Crown Lands approved of the road deviation on lot 12, Annan settlement. The? clerk stated that he had interviewed all. the selectors interested in connection with the spending of their "thirds" on drainage work, and they were willing to pledge themselves to carry out the work. —It was decided to apply to the bank for an overdraft on the "thirds" No. 2 account, ascertaining beforehand the amount of thei "thirds" likely to accrue from the selectors'sections.
