SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
BECKENHAM. The monthly meeting of the Becken- 1 hath School Committee was held on: Tuesday evening. The- headmaster reported that the average attendance was. steadily growing, and" the roll number; was now J. 90. In consequence of the in-: crease of scholars the school was en-, titled to an assistant master, and Mr S. Macguinness had' been appointed to; the position. The girls were steadily at; work making up articles for the Bed' Cross Fundr A. very favourable offer having been .received for a piano for the school, it was decided to purchase same upon the terms offered. The question of giving prizes to the scholars and holding l an annual picnic was considered, and, in viow of the numerous calls upon the: residents for various funds, it was decided not to give prizes this year, but to hold the picnic.
