■ j p RUSSELL'S PROMISE. j BOARD OF CENSORS. Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 2. The deputation from the conference convened by the Catholic Federation, and representing 45 councils and other bodies urging the censorship of kinema films, waited on the Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs. The Minister expressed himself in sipcere agreement with the proposal, . and congratulated the federation on the steps it had taken. He sqid that he was prepared to recommend his colleagues next session to bring down the necessary legislation to provide for the establishment of a board of censors, who •wjould view every film at Wellington, arid making it a penal offence to exhibit any film that censors had barred.
A proposal that women should be represented on the board would receive careful consideration. He had no doubt, from his knowledge of views of the Government, that legislation would be introduced.
