WHOLESALERS AND RETAILERS A meeting of Sydenham Whole- 1 I salers and Retailers was held in con- ! nection with the forthcoming Queen Carnival, at Sydenham Public Library last night. Mr S. A. Orchard presided. j On the motion of the chairman, it was agreed unanimously that the Sydenham Wholesalers and Retailers should form a separate sub-section under the control of the Central Ex-! ecutivc. j Mr G. E, Good was elected perma-J nent chairman, Mr F. Frayle deputy chairman, Mr W. Lake secretary, and Mr W. Brittain treasurer. It was resolved that those present should form themselves into a committee with power to add, an execu-! tive sub-committee to be elected #t a | subsequent meeting. j It was decided to meet again on Tuesday, Addington representatives j to be asked to attend, and express an opinion as to whether the district should be canvassed by the Sydenham committee, or whether they should form themselves into a separate sub-section. Mr Orchard urged those present to induce all objectors to the scheme to attend the next meeting. He hoped also that all the employees of the various establishments would attend. It was not proposed to lay down a rule that all employees should give a week's wages to the fund, but should be asked to do so only if they were able.
