COUNTY COUNCILS.

MALVERN. The monthly meeting of the Malvern County Council was held on Wednesday, when correspondence was read from the Tawera Council Council, agreeing to the amount fixed for their share of the grader. The Darfield poundkeeper wrote re horses continually grazing on the road, impounding them apparently having no effect. It was resolved to take action under the Police Offencos Act.

The secretary of the Coalgate Fete Committee forwarded the proportion of the division of proceeds between the Malvern and Selwyn Counties, and asked for support. -It was decided to do all possible to help. The chairman reported the arrangements he had made in connection with the £2OOO loan. This was approved. In connection with the proposed Canterbury Queen Carnival, the council agreed to leave the decision as to whether the county will take part, in the eontest or not to the various patriotic, committees in each portion of the district. , The annual meeting was held at noon on the same day, and Mr 11. A. Knight was re-elected chairman.
