Replying to the Wine Merchants' Association deputation's representations against the application of , the proposed early closing for the sale of wine, on the ground that such would be detrimental to an important local industry, Mr W. A. Holman promised sympathetic consideration. He says he is convinced that the time must come for dealing with wine as distinct from beer and spirits, and points out that the Government's early-closing legislation is strictly an emergency and temporary measure.
