TRAINING SITES.
A NEW DEPARTURE. COMPULSORY ACQUISITION. Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 2. A new departure in the way of legislation will be introduced in the House of Representatives this afternoon. This is the Array Manoeuvres Bill, which gives the State authority to utilise for Defence purposes any land throughout the Dominion which may be necessary to be used in connection with the training of soldiers. Provision is made for the payment of compensation for any damage done. The measure is on the lines of the English law. It is contended in some quarters that such legislation should have been introduced long ago, so that the Defence authorities could have secured the use of land specially suitable for the training of troops, instead of having to put \ip with certain sites.
