A STRANGE TRAGEDY.
SOLDIER'S NARROW ESCAPE. FIRED AT wFH REVOLVER. ASSAILANT COMMITS SUICIDE. Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 28. A sensational shooting aH'ray occurred in the city yesterday afternoon as the result of which a man named Harry Parslow indicted a serious wound on himself, to which he subsequently succumbed. It is stated that at about 4.30 p.m., Parslow, who resides in Martin Street, fired a revolver at Ernest William Collingwood, a soldier in uniform, at his house in Martin Street. Parslow then turned the weapon on himself and tired a bullet through his head, the pellet entering behind one ear and emerging on the opposite side of his skull. Collingwood had a remarkable escape from grave injury. The bullet struck a metal hook on his uniform, glanced off and passed through the edge of the tunic, grazing his side. Parslow, who is 53 years of age, was removed to the hospital, where he died at an this morning.
