FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.

SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of delegates of the Canterbury Football Association was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening, Mr R. .English presiding over representatives from the United, Rangers, Sunnyside, Nomads, St. Albans, Sprcydon, and Linwood Clubs. The following alterations -to rules and by-laws were carried:—Rule 10 to read as follows: A player's registration must reach the secretary on the Monday previous to the Saturday on >vhich the player intends to play. Other rules were also amended. In connection with the question as to whether the Association should form a separate unit, or whether players should join platoons in the district in which they resided, it was decided' to request as many members as possible to' attend a parade at Cranmer Square, on Wednesday, August 4, at 7.3.0 p.m.,. in order to ascertain whether the matter could be carried on.

The question of improving the. finance of the association was discussed, and it was resolved tp circularise all with a request to redeem their promise of 12 months ago by active assistance. It was suggested that a charge of 6d per head should be made to senior players for entrance to English Park.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Mr R. English "presided over a meeting of the Management Committee. The secretary of the* Spreydon Club wrote entering a protest in connection with the junior match played\on Saturday. The grounds of the protest were that there was no referee appointed by. the association present to conduct the match, , and that the gentleman acting as referee,, he being chosen from amoiig the bystanders, used a motor-horn instead of a whistle, and was not sufficiently elßcient to cbntrol the game properly, with the result that three of the six goals scored against Spreydon were shot from a distinctly "off-side" position. It was also stated that at the last two matches played by Spreydon, on the North Park ground,, the referees appointed by the association failed to put in an appearance. • It was decided to reply that the referee was a member of the Referees' Association, and" the ; pcotest was dismissed. E. W. Bartlett wrote applying for a transfer from the Rangers Club to the Nomads Club. The transfer was granted. Mr Davis took exception to a letter he had received from the association regarding, remarks made; by him to. the referee at a recent match. He considered that the letter was inabusive, and' faultfinding; and.he maintained he had a perfect right to make any rejmarks he wished. Several, of the members considered that the. speaker had been guilty; of an error of) judgment. : Mr Davis explained that he felt* nb antagonism whatever when he made the remarks,, which were- to the effect that the game was the worst controlled he had; evqr seen; The speaker further mentioned that he was sorry if he had, hurt, the; feelings of the referee. The matter was allowed to drop. SATURDAY'S GAMES. The following are the Association Football fixtures for Saturday next: SENIOR GRADE. St. Bede's v.Sunnyside, Sunnyside, . MiMcLaughlin. . Limvood v.
