The Austro-Italian frontier east of Udine follows, from Plezzo down to the Gulf of Trieste, roughly, the winding course of the Isonzo, at from five to ten miles west of the river. The Italians have established themselves at Caporetto, where they command a network of roads; at Cormons, the Austrian Customs station on the line to Gorz, and, it. is stated, have crossed the Isorizo at several points. The above map gives a good idea of the mountainous character of the frontier.
