Mr Falk Cohen, a well-known business man in Wellington, died suddenly on Wednesday night. The late Mr Cohen was bom in London 70 years ago, and had lived in Wellington for half a century. Mr Cohen always took a great interest in fire brigade mattersf. As soon as he settled in Wellington he joined the Volunteer Fire Brigade, then under Captain Lewis Moss, and he was one of the founders of the Wellington Fire Police, ' occupying the position of treasurer of the corps for about 15 years. He was a chartered member of the Excelsior Lodge of Druids, and a member of Masonic Lodge Leinster. In 1904 lie was elected a member of the Wellington City Council, and held a seat on that body until two years ago.

The Bev. E. K. Mules, who recently retbrned from the Did Country, has accepted the Cure of Little River, and the Bev. P. Reveil that of Courtenay. Lieut. C. K. Ward, late of the Samoan Expeditionary Force, who is at present visiting Christcliurcla, will go into camp at Trentham early-next week. The Hon. B. Heatbn. Postmaster General, returned from,the south yesterday afternoon. .Before .returning to Wellington he will pay a visit to Hanmer and Kaikoura.

Mr J. P. Murphy, who succeeds Mr P. G. Withers as Deputy-Commissioner of Stamps for Canterbury; arrived in Cliristchurch from Dunedin last evening. -He commenced his new duties this morning.
