THE YEAR'S FIGURES. TUBERCULOSIS DECREASING. During the past year there has been an increase in the number of eases of infections disease in Christchurch, particularly in respect to scarlet fever and diphtheria, but tuberculosis and infantile paralysis have shown a decrease. The figures are as under, those for the previous year being given for the purposes of comparison:—

There were 56:1 premises disinfected containing in all 1100 rooms. The deaths from infectious diseases (with a comparison of those for the previous vear), were as under: —

The inspectors reported:—"We have visited the food sellers' shops in most of our district (excepting Christchurch City, "which we do not inspect), and have examined all the infant foods, and. given ■. instructions that the- food that is old: should not be sold.. The complete total of inspections, etc., for the year is 4677, as against 3703 in 1014 and 3080 in 1913.'/ . ,
