A DANGER SPOT.
CLARENCE ROAD. BOROUGH COUNCIL ACTS. Last night, at a meeting of the Eiecarton Borough Council, a letter was received from. Mr H. W. Bishop, coroner, drawing the council's attention to a public danger which, he was informed, existed on Clarence Road. He recently hold an inquest concerning the' death of an elderly man who was killed by being knocked over by a motor car at that portion of Clarence Road where it narrows considerably, and where a high fence at the corner somewhat obscures the view. Evidence was given that this particular place was a danger spot, and it was his duty to draw special attention to the fact, as he felt that the council would not allow such danger to continue if satisfied that conditions existed as statod. The Mayor said that the Coroner's remarks would probably help through the council's proposal for the widening of Clarence Eoad. A poll of the ratepayers is to be taken as to whether the road shall bo widened. A valuer has been appointed and as soon as his report is received immediate steps are to be taken to submit the proposal to the ratepayers for their approval.
