The annual meetings of householders | for the election of school committees will be held in the various schools at 7.80 o'clock this evening. A Kruger half-crown has been presented to the Canterbury Museum by Mr H. Wright, of Ohristchureh. The police are awaiting an owner for a bunch of keys, which were found on Cashmere Hills on Saturday last. There are seven keys in the bunch. The following subscriptions towards the Patriotic Fund have been received: —City Council Waterworks employees, 81st contribution, 12/-; No. 4 Company, New Zealand Garrison Artillery, £2 i!/-. , A Press Association message from Wanganui states that a man named Reginald Tasker was fined £lO, the maximum penalty, for supplying liquor to a prohibited person. At the Magistrate's Court, Wellington, to-day, George and Bayliss,. dairymen, were convicted on two charges of supplying to the hospital milk deficient in fats, and were fined £5 and costs £3 37/-. —-Press Association wire. At the meeting of Mr H. Holland's election committee on Saturday evening a resolution was passed expressing deep regret at the death of the late Dr C. J. Russell, a former member of the committee. An Auckland telegram says that in the Supreme Court Johu Patrick Sheridan, charged with issuing a forged cheque for £lO on the Registrar of the Native Lands Department, Auckland, was sentenced to three years' probationary treatment and ordered to submit to a prohibition order for a similar term. A very fine old muzzle-loading gun, used for sporting purposes, has been presented to the Canterbury Museum by Mr L. Wood, of Lake Herod. The gun is said to be 60 years old, and is entirely free from rust. It is packed in an old oak case, and contains all the accessories for loading and cleaning. Among the recent acquisitions to the Canterbury Museum is a collection of North-West Australian native implements. The articles, which were collected by the late Mr F. J. Mouldey, of Heathcote, comprise shields, coDndies,: jpear throwers, murda spear tips, baskot, .message .stick,/ shell Dinanibnt, and a-.human hair belt.
