LAWN TENNIS.
OPAWA v. CANTERBURY SUB-ASSOCIA-TION. A match was played on the Riccarton Domain tennis courts on Saturday between the Opawa Club and a team representing the Canterbury Sub-Association. The match resulted in a win for Opawa by 22 games. Following are the details:— LADIES' SINGLES. Miss Taylor (Opawa) beat Miss Legg (Prebbleton), 6-0. Miss- Ferrier (Opawa) beat Miss McMeekan (Prebbleton), 6-4. Miss Willis (Opawa) lost to Miss J. Thompson (Riccartou), 4-6. Miss Burnett (Opawa) lost to Miss McCalman (St. James), 2-6. LADIES' DOUBLES. Misses Taylor and Ferrier (Opawa) beat Misses Legg and McMeekan (Prebbleton), 6-3. Misses Willis and Burnett (Opawa) lost to Misses Thompson and McCalmßn (Riecarton), 4-6. MEN'S SINGLES. C. J. Ferrier (Opawa) lost to W. T. Kemp (Riccarton), 3-9. C. W. Collins (Opawa) beat A. Biggs (Riccarton), 9-3. G. L. Gledhill (Opawa) beat C. C. Kemp (Riccarton), 9-3. 3. Willis (Opawa) beat W. Hardy (Riccarton), 9-6. MEN'S DOUBLES. C. <T. Ferrier and J. Willis (Opawa) beatHardy and Kemp (Riccarton), 6-4. G. L. Gledhill and C. W. Collins (Opawa) beat C. C. Kemp and A. Biggs (Riccarton), 6-3. MIXED DOUBLES. C. -T. Ferrier and Miss Ferrier (Opawa) beat C. C. Kemp and Miss McMeekan (Riccarton), 6-2. C. W. Collins and Miss Taylor (Opawa) lost to A. Biggs and Miss Thompson (Riccarton), 2-6. J. Willis and Miss Willis (Opawa) beat W. Hardy and Miss Legg (Riccarton), 6-4. G. L. Gledhill find Miss Burnett (Opawa) beat C. C. Kemp and Miss McCalman (Riccarton), 6-1. Totals: Opawa 90, Sub-Association 68. TRINITY CLUB, LYTTELTON. The tennis club which was recently formed in connection with Trinity Church, Lyttelton, held its opening day on Saturday. Canon Coates declared the court open for play, and congratulated the club on having such a fine site. The membership was 40, which was very satisfactory for a new club, and there Was every reason to believo that there would be a considerable increase. The Rev. J. R. Hewland also spoke, and after -tea a few games were played.
