LABOUR IN AUSTRALIA.
RAILWAYMEN AND LABOURERS. SERIES OF RESOLUTIONS. By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright. (Received April 26, 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 26. A ballot of the Railway Workers and General Labourers' Association decided in favour of amalgamation with the Australian Workers' Union by 5203 votes to 1541. The vote in connection with the Nor-ton-Griffiths scheme favoured the contract by 3460 votes to 3051. The majority was much smallor than was anticipated. It is stated that the knowledge the ballot was going in favour of the scheme prevented the delegates to the Labour Conference supporting the censure vote connected with the matter. MELBOURNE; April 26. The Victorian Railways Union, at a conference, passed a resolution in favour of the totalisator, in the interests of charity. The conference approved of amalgamation with the Australian Railwaymen's Union.
