BAND CONTEST.

MEETING OP EXECUTIVE.

A meeting of the Executive Committee which is making arrangements for the band contest to be held at Christchurch at Easter was held last evening, Mr S. A. Staples presiding. There were also present: Dr Thacker, M.P., Messrs H. Holland, J. McCullough, D. Blyth, T. F. Hall, T. Hopkins, H. L. Oates, W. Steers, and G. Jenner (secretary). The secretary reported that additional entries had been received from the following bands: —Oamaru (A grade), Kaponga (B grade), and Sumner (C grade). The offer of the owners of the Colosseum for the use of tha.t building for the contest was accepted.

The marching competition will be held on the Showgrounds on Saturday,' April 3. At the suggestion of Dr Thaeker it was decided to admit members of Scout and Cadet bands to the contest free. A band concert will be held in the public gardens on Easter Sunday. It was resolved that if there is any surplus from the contest it will be divided between the Patriotic and Belgian Funds.
