THE NEW ST. MARGARETS.
The foundation stone of the new building in connection with St. Margaret's College, which was opened yesterday, was laid in October last. The building is of timber construction throughout, and comprises eight large class rooms; cookery room, and Sisters' rooms, also two large cloak rooms. A feature of the three class rooms on the ground floor is that they can be opened into one room to serve for a temporary assembly hall until the permanent hall is built, room for this having been left at the rear of the main building. All the class rooms have been planned in accordance with the standard laid down for English schools as regards the spacing of the desks and the cubicle area allowed each pupil. Ample exits have also been provided for a fire escape on the first floor, and the building is heated throughout with '' Ideal'' boiler and radiators. The contractor was Mr George Frost, and the building was erected under the supervision of Mr Cecil Wood, architect. It will, of course, be used as a day school only, the boarding accommodation being at the college in Armagh Street. The new building has a fine situation, overlooking Latimer Square*
