The Women's Liberal Federation has recommended, in the interests of Liberalism, the immediate granting -e>f the franchise to women on' a cratic basis. The Federation also urged the Government to suppress the militant disorder. '' Lady Carlisle demanded that the Government shpuld show its strength by dealing .with the militants, who are a scourge s to the community. It is, she declared, a curious travesty on chivalry and spurious sentimentality, not j to punish women in the same fashion as men. MRS PANKHUEST ELUDES POLICE. SEVERAL WOMEN MALTREATED. Mrs Patokhuist, eluding; the police, has changed . her ' domicile, and her present whereabouts are unknown. Several cases have occurred in the London streets, where women, selling suffragette literature, have been harried and maltreated.
