HAGLEY PARK PATHS.

To the Editor of TBS! SUN. Sir,—One of the main paths. through Hagley Park, from Victoria Lake to 1 the Riccarton Corner, has recently been top-dressed . with gravel. It is the cycling path,. parallel, with whieh runs the path reserved for pedestrians. While the t6p-dressing was ih progress the cyclists used the pedestriatis' path, and I supposed they hoped to continue doing so until, the.other path'was fit for rubber-tyre traffic. They entertained the hope 'that the surface would be rolled smotfth. "> However, the" cyclists -are being ordered off; the. hard track on to tbe gravel, and have tot plough their way from one end' 1 to the other. This morning a couple of the gardens staff were stationed at vital points, and they kept, a wary eye open to-ensure* that no cyclist enjoyed the luxury of a ride on the smooth path. I suppose that 90 per cent, of the people who come into town in-the iuidraihg'froiii quarter are and it seems td me quite illogical that they should be forced on to a rough track, when ftfie' other is practically deserted. Perhaps the Domain Board.is.looking to the cyclists to do the rolling which it should take in hand itself.—l am, etc., • CYCLIST.
