SKIPPING NOTES. Homeward bound from Wellington, the F. and S. Line steamer Buteshire called at Monte Video last Tuesday. She left Wellington on May 13, and is due at Avonmouth on June 30. "

The steamer Surrey, which left Wellington on April 17 for Avonmouth, reached her destination last Friday. The 0. and D. Line have received cabled advice that the new steamer- Star of England, en route from London to Australian and New Zealand ports, passed the Cape on June 2. She left London on May 15, and is due in New Zealand early in July. To-day week the Shaw, Savill liner Tainui is fixed to leave Wellington for London, via way ports. Advice has been received to the effect that the Federal-Shire liner Kent has been delayed on her passage from San Francisco to Newcastle owing to an accident to her main steam pipe. In consequence of the accident the Kent will not now arrive at Auckland until about the end of June to load for Boston and New York. She will afterwards visit Wellington to complete her loading, and is expected to take her final departure early in July. Under the auspices of the U.S. and A. Line, the steamer Wildenfels has been fixed to load at New York on June 20 for Australian and New Zealand ports.

The schooner A. M. Campbell is now loading timber at Puget Sound for a New Zealand port for a Christchurch firm. Another schooner is fixed to load in August, and a third will take the berth in October, to bring lumber for the same consignees. Mr C. G. Neale has rejoined the Riverina as chief officer, and Mr W. H. M'Clenaghan, late of the Ulimaroa, has been engaged on the vessel as fourth officer.

Mr W. Norris, late of the Rotomahana and Wimmera, has signed on the Victoria as assistant purser. •

A cablegram from 1 London states that the New Zealand -Shipping Company's new Bteamer Hororata, 10,930 tons, commenced hOr maiden voyage from Liverpool on Monday last. The vessel is bound for Australian ports only, and is running under charter to the F. and S. Line.

Last Sunday the steamer Roscommon, which left Wellington on April 23 for Boston, there. After putting out a part cargo she proceeds to New York to complete discharge.
