(Prom Our. Special Correspondents.) BANKS PENINSULA. The statutory meeting of the Akaroa Co-operative Butter. Factory Company, Ltd., was held in the Borough Council Chamber on Tuesday. There was a large attendance of shareholders. The chairman (Mr A. J. Turner) presided, and explained the position of the company. The provisional directors were elected permanent directors. Mr C. W. Leete was elected auditor. A resolution was passed to increase the capital of the company to £3OOO. A .meeting, of the directors followed, at which tenders for the erection of the factory were considered, and that of Mr T. G. Haigh, of Christchurch, for the erection of the factory in brick, at £864, was accepted. The tenders for the supply of plant for the factory were also considered, and after going extensively into the tenders received that of Messrs Topliss Bros., of Christchurch, was accepted at £IOO7 11/8. Mr and Mrs B. C. Bishop, of Christchurch, are staying for a few days in Akaroa.

Mr W. H. Parkin, late of the Bruce Hotel, was entertained at a smoke concert last week, prior to his leaving the district.

, It is anticipated that a Citizens' Association will be formed -inAkaroa for the furtherance of the welfare of the district. A number.; of the. prominent residents of the borough are taking a part, and a meeting'* will be held next week to form such an association. :

AMBERtEY. On Tuesday evening a meeting of the Amberley-Tennis Club was held in the library rooms, when Mr Boddington (president), presided over a fair attendance of members* It was decided that a deputation, consisting of Messrs Coleman, Courage, Pewy? and Boddington, should attend the r Domain Board's meeting on Monday* June 15, re the lay-: ing down of two new tennis courts. One new member was elected;

WAJAU. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Waiau Lodge of Oddfellows was held on Tuesday evening. Three candidates were initiated, P.G.'s Bros. H.Derrett and C. Oldman acting as conductors. Further nominations for officers were received, next lodge night being quar-ter-night and election night. The te-' ceipts amounted to £1 14/6 and the expenditure to 13/4, and sick pay passed to a brother. Degrees were conferred on several brethren;

On Friday last Mr L. Grant met with a painful accident. He had been digging out rabbit holes, and when riding in his dray over rough ground a sudden stoppage of the horses caused him to stumble over a rein tied low down' in the dray.
