It occurred at 1 o'clock. _, About 20 persons were in the housecelebrating the birthday of one of the family. Suddenly a tall masked man entered, presented a revolver, and demanded *'Hands up! " The party was staggered. The masked man thou whistled, and three others appeared. The owner of the house entered a protest, but was silenced by the men, who pushed their revolvers into his face. The party stood in a semi-circle, and the intruders calmly went through their pockets. They stole £OOO in money and jewellery. One of the guests attempted to escape, but the robbers promptly fired, bringing him to a standstill. After clearing out the party, the men backed through the door, still threatening the assembly with their revolvers, boarded motor-ears, and decamped. Later detectives arrested David Kecnahan, aged 25, who was charged with assaulting and robbing one of the guests.
