LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Licensing Committee was held this morning, Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.. presiding. Messrs C. E. Salter, T. J, M 'Bride, T. C. Field and H. G. Ell, M.P., were also present. The chairman stated that all the police reports were satisfactory, and there was no obstacle in the way of any transfer. The license of the United Service Hotel was renewed on condition that a transfer to a suitable tenant should be made within three months. Mr S. G. Raymond, K.C., said, in support of the application, that a suitable tenant would shortly take over the house.
Mr Cassidy appeared in support of an application by A. R. Rouse, for the transfer of the Excelsior Hotel to Thomas Green. This was granted, as were the transfers of the Grosvenor Hotel from P. S. Flood to Thomas Kennedy," and the White Swan Hotel from D. Spence to James Savage. Mr Weston and Mr Cassidy appeared in the last-mentioned applications.
