MOTORING.

AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION. There was a fuil attendance of members at the committee meeting of the Canterbury Automobile Association last night. The president, Dr. W. H. Simpson, occupied the ehair. The Marlborough Automobile Association wrote suggesting that a motor ,demonstration should be held on .the Marlborougli and Kaikoura road about Easter, and also forwarded a suggestion for the formation of a scheme of insurance for motorists. —It was decided to inform the Association that arrangements for Easter had already been made, but that the matter would be considered if another date were fixed.

J. Norrie, of Mt. Guardian, forwarded a statement of certain grievances he had against motorists, and reason why he had raised his charges for assisting motorists to cross the Conway. —It was decided that Mr Norrie should be informed that the motorists complained of were not members of the association, and that members of that body would do all possible to assist him.

Mr W. A. White asked if the association would support him in an appeal against a conviction for exceeding the speed limit and breaking a by-law of the .Waimairi County Council. —The matter was left in the hands of Mr W. Johnston.

A bonus of two guineas was granted to the caretaker of the Metropolitan Trotting Club in return for his services at the recent gymkhana.

It was Resolved to circulate information regarding the new by-laws amongst members of the association, and the secretary was instructed I to ask the City Council to notify the association of any new traffic by-laws passed. The following new members were elected: —Messrs D. V. Grant, A. W. M'Connell, G. Adams, C. Wynn-Wil-liams, N. E. Peryman, and Dr. A. Sandfltoin.
