LONDON WOOL SALES Merchants report receipt of overseas cables as follow: New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, from its London House, under date September 16: “There was a full attendance at. the opening of the_sales today, competition by Home and Continental buyers being fairly active, and prices as compared with the close of preceding series ruled about the same for superfine Merino wool, lower by 5 per cent, other wool; 5 per cent, to 7?; per cent, for greasy crossbred: 7£ per cent, to 10 per cent, for crossbred slipe and scoured crossbred. The opening catalogues were fairly representative.” Dalgetv and Com pan v. Limited, from their London House, dated September 16:—“The wool sales opened, large attendance, good selection, competition hesitating, Germany active demand. As compared with closing rates of last series: Best scoured Merino was 5 per cent, to 7j per cent, lower; scoured Merino, other descriptions, 7f per cent, to 10 per cent, lower; finest greasy Merino, unchanged: greasy Merino, other descriptions, 5 per cent, lower; greasy crossbred, fine, 75 per cent, lower; greasy crossbred, medium, 5 per cent. to 7h per cent. lower: greasy crossbred, coarse, par to 5 per cent, lower; scoured crossbred 7t per cent, to 10 per cent, lower; slipe crossbred. 10 per cent, to 15 per cent. LONDON TALLOW MARKET The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office under, date September 17: ’’Tallow: There is a fair demand. Current quotations, good mutton, 29a to 29s Gd a cwt; beef, 27s 6d to 2Ss; mixed, 27s 6d; gut, 22s to 25s Gd.” AUCTION NOTES Robert C.
