PIANO STUDENTS MEET
PAPER ON “SPANISH MUSIC” In the Lewis Eady Hall last evening, at a meeting of the Auckland Piano Students’ Association, the development in various countries of nationalism in music was dealt with by Miss Joyce Parker, president of the association. A paper on Spanish music was also read by Miss Marjorie Slade, one on Greig’s music by Miss Blackburn, and a lecturette on the prelude form was given by Miss Alisa Walker. The subjects were practically illustrated, which added to their interest and enjoyment. The illustrations were:—“Butterflies” and “Erotikon” (Greig), played by Miss Barbara Williamson: duet, “Morning Mood, ” from the “Peer Gynt Suite” fGreig), by the Misses Blackburn and Parker: “Playera” (Granados), by Miss Slade: “Seguidillas” (Albeniz), by Miss Blackburn; “Alborada” (Albeniz), by Miss Parker.
