MRS. J. D. WATKIN The death occurred on Sunday of Mrs. J. I->. Watkin, wife of Mr. J. L>. Wat kin, a well-known farmer in the Puni district. Mrs. Watkin was a daughter of Mr. A. E. Watkin. the well-known pedigree Jersey breeder at Takanini. She is survived by her husband and five young children. MR. HALMAR NYBERG The death of Mr. Halniar (Harry! Xyberg, of Brown’s Bay. at the age of SS, occurred at the Auckland Hospital yesterday. Mr. Xyberg. who was born at Steel.holm on Juno 28, 1542, had spent nearly 63 years in Xew Zealand. When quite a young man he left Sweden for London, where he was trained as a carpenter- At the age of 23 he came to Xew Zealand as ship's carpenter oil board tlie ship King of Italy, landing on October 19. 1865. He set up business in Wakefield Street, moving to Thames at the time of the gold rush, but he did not join in the scramble, preferring to work at his trade. He spent several years in Auckland, before nis retirement. when he removed to Brown's Bay to live with his son. Mr. Xyberg was a member of the Loyal United Lodge of Oddfellows. Ho married an English girl. Miss Xnsell, shortly after his arrival ill i New Zealand. There were thro sons. Messrs. Ernest Xyberg. of Brown's Bay. Herbert Xyberg. of Dunedin, and Thomas Xyberg. of Mount Albert. The only daughter is Mrs. Howard Carter, of Gisborne. There are 11 grandI children and three great-grandchildren
