“LADIES OF LEISURE” Tho ‘British double-feature talkie programme is now drawing to the end of its season at the Roxy Theatre. This includes “Flame of Love,” starring Anna May Wong, and "Song of Soho,” starring Carl Brisson. “Ladies of Leisure.” the Columbia alldiking- drama of New York night life, with Barbara Stanwyck, Lowell Sherrna n and Ralph Graves, will be the next picture at the Roxy. Frank Capra, ace director who turned out such films as “Submarine” and “Flight,” handled the megaphone. The film is an adaptation of a David Belasco stage play by Miltbn Herbert Gropper. The story is not a complex one. It proves the theory that a woman is what a man chooses to make of her. A girl of the streets will become a lady if she is treated as one. “Ladies of Leisure” dramatises this fact in the case of an idealist artist and a golddigging party girl. What makes this picture really one of the prizes of the season is the superlative acting of the entire cast. Seldom has the opportunity to see assembled in one film a cast of this calibre. It includes in addition to tho three stars mentioned above — Marie Prevost, George Fawcett, Nance O’Keil, Juliette Compton and Johnnie Walker. The extremely capable director Frank Capra lias turned out another winner. Don't miss this dramatic triumph.
