SUBSTANCE AND SPIRIT

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE VIEW “Substance” was the subject of the lesson-sermon in First Church of Christ, Scientist, Auckland, yesterday. The golden text was from Romans 8:25, “If we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon was the following from the Bible: “For 1 am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. . .. For the invisible things of Him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead.” Tho lesson-sermon also included the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health.

j with Ivey to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy: ‘‘Paul says: ‘For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made.” Romans 1:20. ‘‘When the substance of Spirit appears in Christian Science, the nothingness of matter is recognised. Where the spirit of God is. and there is no place where God is not. evil becomes nothing, the opposite of the something of Spirit.”
