VETERANS REUNITED

THE RETREAT FROM MONS RECALLED ANNUAL DINNER HELD The retreat from Mens was remembered at the third annual dinner of tho Mo ns’ Veterans’ Association on Saturday evening, at which about 60 merpbers and guests were present. Representatives of kindred associations included Colonel E. G. Fraser, president of the South African Veterans’ Association; Mr. E. H. Sharp, secretary of tho Returned Soldiers’ Association; and Mr. Bryce Hart, president of the Takapuna Ex-Servicemen’s Club. The White Ensign Association was also represented. “Wo can never forget the men who have gone before,” said the president. Captain J. Dawson. “The men of the regular army are like a family, and we feel their absence as we would a member from our own home. The men of Mons set a fine example to the younger generation, and, should the necessity arise, I hope they will do as well.” Mr. N. F. Elliott asked for greater support for tho association. On its inauguration five years ago, it was felt that a comradeship like that which held all army men together at the beginning of the war was being brought into being. All members were strangers to New Zealand. Tlio toast to the Army, Navy, and Air Forces was proposed by SergeantMajor Andrews, and that of* kindred associations by the secretary, Mr. W. C. Pilgrim. The latter suggested combined function every year.
