“EMPIRE’S DAIRY FARM”
WHERE WAIKATO LEADS ENTERPRISE OF FARMERS | The phrase, “The Empire’s Dairy Farm,” is frequently applied to the Waikato, and not without reason. In many aspects of farming the Waikato, with Hamilton as its centre, leads the Empire, if not the world, with enterprise, progress and general initiative. Some of the points on which Waikato farmers can claim Empire leadership are: General expansion of the farming industry over past decade. Results achieved by scientific pas-
ture management, and the extensive use of artificial fertilisers. Pre-eminently high quality of its ! dairy produce. Kfficiency of its marketing systems which is increasing as a result of pro- j gress made over the past two years. The success which has followed cooperation among the farmers in the manufacture of their produce. The effective development of supplementary industries, such as pig-raising I and the bobby calf trade, with a view to eliminating waste. In short, the general application of the findings of scientific investigation to farming, and the resultant lifting of the industry to the plane of a skilled profession.
