FIRST DAY OF ROUND PLAY IN AUSTRALIA BEST SCORERS MELBOURNE. Thursday. Play was begun today in the dional open golf championship of unralia on the Metropolitan links, litleigh, with a round of 18 holes. This will be followed by a similar u::d tomorrow, after whieh the lead'tl players will enter upon the elimtatfon rounds.
