TAUPIRI TENNIS CLUB
GOOD YEAR DISCLOSED From Our Own Correspondent TAUPIRI, Today. The attendance at the annual meeting of the Taupiri Tennis Club was not large. The chair was occupied by Mr. E. I\ Tapper, the retiring president. The annual report stated that the play of last season had been spoiled by the loss of several of the best players from the seniors. Incidentally, this spoiled tho chances of the juniors, from whose ranks several were drawn to fill the gaps in the seniors. Neither the president, Mr. Tapper, nor the joint secretaries, Messrs. H. Wilson and W. Button, sought re-elec-tion. The election of officers for the coming season resulted as follows: Patron. Mr. A. H. Waring; president, Mr. W. Waring; vice-presidents, Messrs. Hewitt, F. Durbridge, F. O. Day, A. Waring, jun., L. Powell, R. Hunter; joint secretary-treasurers, Misses N. Wilson and A. Waring: selectors, Mrs. L. Powell and Mr. R. Gleeson; delegates to Hamilton Union, Messrs. W. Waring, R. Gleeson and W. Button. The opening day of the courts was fixed for September 27, and a tournament and dance are to follow immediately, in order to augment the club’s funds.
