BRITISH PREFERENCE
BUSINESS MEN’S REMIT The Auckland Chamber of Commerce is sending its decision that the present basis of British preference on goods imported into New Zealand should not be raised in the form of a remit to the approaching conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. This action was taken at the Canterbury Chamber. The remit maintains that it is desirable that there should be no disturbance of the present 50 per cent, requirement of British material or labour in order to admit goods under the preferential tariff. This view is in answer to the proposal to raise the requirement to 75 per cent.
